“If the essence of my being has caused a smile to have appeared upon your face or a touch of joy in your heart, then in living — I have made my mark.” Thomas Oden, Jr.
This website is a tribute to our beautiful daughter and beloved sister, Julia H. Turnbull. Julie died in an off-campus house fire in Oxford, Ohio, on April 10th, 2005. She was a senior at Miami University – a month away from graduation and a month away from her 22nd birthday on Mother’s Day – May 8th. April 10th was the worst day of our lives. Since then we have seen great kindness and love, and have heard wonderful stories about Julie. We received letters from people that had met her just one time, but were moved to write to us to let us know how she touched their lives. We are Julie’s family and, of course, thought Julie was the greatest, but we have been inspired by the thoughtfulness of her wonderful friends. We would like for you to post a story or memory of Julie like the stories in your letters, so there can be a permanent record before the memories fade. Go to “Post Something”, and if you want to include a picture, it would be easiest to send it to us, and we’ll add it to your post.
“It is not how long the flower blooms, but how beautifully.”
